Heat pumps also offer greater heating and cooling efficiency than gas furnaces and conventional air-conditioning systems. At best, your gas furnace is 95% efficient while a heat pump can be as efficient as 350%. That’s three and a half times greater return on your dollar! If you’re building a new home, contact your local electric cooperative for energy-efficient construction techniques, and to see if you qualify for a rebate on a new heat pump system.
